VX One – World Sailing Hull Plaques
As a requirement of being a World Sailing (WS) International Class, VX One hulls must now display the World Sailing hull plaque when competing in class racing. This requirement has meant that the VX One Class rules now include a rule that stipulates a World Sailing plaque must be displayed on a VX One hull. The plaque confirms that your hull is certified and eligible to race – in other words, it verifies that your boat is class legal. How Are the VX One WS Plaques Administered?
World Sailing supplies the hull plaques to the Class. World Sailing charges a fee for each plaque. The Class provides these plaques at cost to owners; it does not profit from their sale.
VX One Boats Built Before 2026
If your VX One was built before 2026, you must purchase an official World Sailing hull plaque that is unique to your boat, i.e. the plaque has your unique hull number on it, to race in Class regattas.
To simplify the process, the VX One International Class Association has purchased the required plaques from World Sailing and is coordinating distribution with National Class Associations in each country or region.
How do I obtain a WS VX One hull plaque?
Your National Class Association will contact you to explain its distribution plan. In many cases, National Class Associations distribute plaques at major class events to reduce shipping costs.

What does the VX One WS plaque cost?
- Hull numbers 101–331: USD $80
- Hull numbers 332–430: USD $135
Why is there a price difference?
World Sailing sets the plaque fee as a percentage of the current boat price. For older boats, we negotiated a reduced fee structure that more closely reflects the approximate original purchase price.
How do I pay?
While your Class Association/contact person will distribute the plaques, you will need to purchase your plaque through the VX One ICA shop, which is accessed through the VX One ICA Boat Owners Portal
Boats Built From 2026 Onward
For all new VX One boats built from 2026, the class builders will affix the plaque to the hull before it leaves the factory. The plaque fee is included in the purchase price of the hull. No separate action is required.
