The VX One fleet enjoyed a memorable three days on Ullswater as the UYC VX One European Open brought together fast racing, changing conditions and close competition from start to finish.
Competitors travelled from as far afield as Germany for an 11-race series that kept crews on their toes throughout the weekend. The lead changed hands between several boats as sunshine, rain and constantly shifting breeze tested the fleet across the course.
Race Officer Andy Young and the race team did an excellent job setting quality courses in difficult conditions. Saturday delivered the strongest breeze, with gusts reaching around 30 knots, while Sunday began lighter before building again as the racing progressed.
With colourful VX One spinnakers charging downwind against the backdrop of Helvellyn, the regatta produced a fantastic spectacle for sailors and spectators alike.

The event was just as enjoyable ashore, with competitors making the most of great food in the clubhouse and a Saturday evening talk from world-class sailor and coach Jon Emmett.
Congratulations to all who raced, and thank you to Ullswater Yacht Club, the volunteers, race team and supporters who helped make the VX One European Open such a successful weekend.
