2025 VX One Canadian Championships

Toronto, ON (September 28, 2025) – The Royal Canadian Yacht Club hosted the 2025 VX One Canadian Championship with a record 29 entries, including 18 teams from RCYC and visiting crews from Quebec, British Columbia, and the United States. Skippers included Doug Clark, Geoff Moore, and Marc Farmer, North American VX One champions from the last three years.

Across three days of racing on Lake Ontario, the fleet completed eight races in a variety of late-summer conditions and hotly-contested starts. From light and shifty breezes to full-planing downwind legs, consistency proved key in the 29-boat fleet. The Vakaros RaceSense system and meticulous RC work helped deliver an exceptional regatta.

The event also delivered lively onshore activities, including evening socials, a performance by RCYC International 14 band, “HOIST,” and a healthy dose of Canadian hospitality.

At the end of the series, Geoff Moore and Josh Yale from RCYC claimed the 2025 Canadian Championship title for the second time, edging out 2024 North American VX One Champions, Marc Farmer and Trevor Parekh from Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club, and 2022 North American Champion skipper, Doug Clark of Sail Newport, sailing with Zach Champney.

Strong showings came from both veteran RCYC teams and newcomers to the class, highlighting the VX One’s growing popularity. With participation from three provinces and the U.S., the 2025 edition marked the class’s largest Canadian championship to date.
